Finally, the bare shell!

nut by nut, bolt by bolt

Nothing too exciting in the last two weeks. Every evening, I would spent a couple of hours to chip away on stripping to bare shell. Today, the front subframe finally came off. The only remaining pieces are rear subframe and hand brake, which shouldn’t take more than a week worth of evening time.

Seven Enterprise visit.

After more than a month of wrenching and degreasing, on friday, I loaded the completely dissembled engine into the our normal car and dropped it off at 7ent for machining. Finally! Got the engine out.

After two hours and much heated discussion with the missus, we managed to lift the engine out of the car. The protruding party of the gear box gave us lots of trouble. Seems to be this is really a three-man job.

Last steps before lifting the engine

Spent this afternoon to loosen drive shaft and engine mount, the last steps before lifting the engine. One of my books claims that it takes about 4 hours to get the engine out. It seems I have at least spent an accumulated 20 hours. As an early mini, mine has rubber joint on drive shaft. […]
